January 13, 2017   Winner of Samuel Johnson Book Award for nonfiction, writer Helen MacDonald shares her personal story of grief through the eyes of Mabel, a goshawk. Discussion facilitated by Jean DeRosa.


The Lost Garden

February 10, 2017   Author Helen Humphreys transports readers into war havocked 1941 London and a mysterious lost garden. Discussion facilitated by Katie Sanstead.


Drifting Into Darien

March 10, 2017  Designated by the Nature Conservancy as one of America’s last great places, southeast Georgia’s Altamaha River intertwines nature and the meditations of author Janisse Ray as she journeys down to the sea. Discussion facilitated by JoAnne Newman.


Run With the Horsemen

April 14, 2017  A young man finds his way into adulthood in middle Georgia in times past. This novel is reminiscent of some of the best coming of age stories with a strong sense of place. Written by Ferrol Sams. Discussion facilitated by Susan Dawsey.


Boundless: Tracing Land and Dream in a New Northwest Passage

May 19, 2017   The famous journey told anew by author Kathleen Winter. Facilitator Beth St. Jean will lead the discussion of this introspective and dangerous voyage.

Feb. 9, 2018 – The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. Dorothy Dowell will be the facilitator.

March 9, 2018 – The Secret Wisdom of the Earth by Christopher Scotton. Katie Sanstead will be the facilitator.

April 13, 2018 – In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. Facilitator will be Sondra Nierenberg.

May 11, 2018 – Mr. Owita’s Guide to Gardening by Carol Wall. Judy Cassell will be the facilitator.
